Stress Management

One of the most common sources of stress, both mild and severe, is work. It is not stress that is enemy; it is how the individual responds to the stress. The key may lie in the bodys automatic response to emotions like fear, anxiety, anger or even joy. Most people react to stress by something called the General Adaptation Syndrome the first reaction is shock followed by resistance during which the body marshals its forces to deal with stress. Finally, this energetic reaction will end in exhaustion and collapse; if the stress continues then there is the likelihood of permanent damage occurring. As distress can cause disease, it seems plausible that certain kind of stress can promote wellness. Stress is not always necessarily harmful. Winning a race or election can be as stressful as losing, or more so, but may trigger very different biological responses. Increased stress results in increased productivity.
